The Board of Directors of Sparebanken Norge

The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring that the funds at Sparebanken Norge’s disposal are managed responsibly and prudently.

The Board of Directors shall also ensure that the bank’s activities are organised in a satisfactory manner, and it is obliged to ensure that the bank’s bookkeeping and asset management are subject to adequate control.


The composition of the Board of Directors


The Board shall consist of 13 members and 8 deputy members, of which 4 members and 4 deputy members are elected by the employees.

 

From and including the 2028 election, the Board of Directors will consist of 10 members, of which 7 members and 2 deputy members will be elected by the General Meeting and 3 members and 3 deputy members will be elected by and among the employees.

Knut Ruhaven Sæthre (born 1964)

Chairman of the Board

Knut Ruhaven Sæthre

Sæthre holds an MSc in economics and business administration from the School of Management Fribourg, Switzerland, and a master’s degree in strategic management from NHH. He has been CFO of BW Energy Limited, BW Offshore Limited and APL ASA. Sæthre was a regularly attending deputy member of the Board of Sparebanken Sør from March 2018 until March 2020, when he was elected as a board member until March 2022. He has been Chair of the board of Sparebanken Sør since 2022, and has also been chair of the Board of BW Energy Norway Management AS. Sæthre is considered an independent board member.

Magne Morken (born 1958)

Deputy Chair

Morken holds a master’s degree in economics and business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). He is the former CEO of Hansa Tankers Management AS, managing director of Solvang ASA and bank manager at Nordea (Oslo/Stavanger/London). Morken is currently head of his own investment and consulting firm, and holds directorships in SigCo (Bermuda). Morken has been a member of the Board of Directors of Sparebanken Norge since March 2017, and Deputy Chair since August 2019. Morken has participated in various meetings and gatherings on sustainability arranged by the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, law firms and banks. Morken is considered an independent board member.

Geir Bergskaug (born 1960)

Geir Bergskaug

Bergskaug holds an MSc in economics and business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), an MBA from INSEAD and further education from Harvard Business School. He was CEO of Sparebanken Sør from 2010 until the merger in May 2025. Bergskaug has previously been an executive vice president at Gjensidige and working chair of Gjensidige Bank. He has also worked as bank manager and director at DNB, and has management experience from Schibsted. Bergskaug has been chair of the board of Finance Norway, chair of the board of the Norwegian Savings Bank Association and chair/member of the board of a number of other companies and organisations in finance, insurance, technology, education and culture. He is currently a member of the board of Frende Holding AS and the University of Agder. Bergskaug is considered an independent board member.

Agnethe Brekke (born 1968)

Agnethe Brekke

Brekke has a degree in economics and also holds a master’s degree in accounting and auditing from NHH. She is CFO of G2 Ocean AS. Brekke has previously served as regional finance manager of DOF Subsea AS, vice president of financial control and group accounting manager of Odfjell Drilling AS, and an auditor at PwC. She was previously a member of the board of Tysnes Sparebank and a member of the Norwegian Hull Club’s control committee. Brekke has been a board member of Sparebanken Norge since March 2019. Brekke is considered an independent board member.

Mette Harv (born 1968)

Mette Harv

Harv has an MSc in economics and business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Harv is Executive Vice President Energy at Nekkar ASA. She has previously been Executive Vice President at TTS Group ASA and Vice President Global Supply Chain & Logistics at National Oilwell Varco, Rig Systems. Harv has been a board member of Sparebanken Sør since March 2018 and deputy chair from March 2022 until May 2025. She is chair of the board of Intellilift AS and a board member of Kongstein AS and Ammonia AS. Harv is considered an independent board member.

Gunnar Skeie (born 1955)

Gunnar Skeie

Skeie holds a law degree from the University of Bergen (UiB). He has been general manager of Sparebankstiftinga Hardanger, and has previously been a lawyer and partner in the law firm Advokatene Kvåle og Skeie ANS in Norheimsund. He has also been acting court of appeal judge at Gulating Court of Appeal, a lawyer affiliated to Kreditorforeningen in Bergen, an assistant judge at the office of the chief local judge in Karmsund in Haugesund, an assistant advocate with Advocate Tom Berge in Odda, and a legal adviser at Bergen Tax Office. He has previously served as chair of the control committee of Eiendomskreditt AS, head of the control committee of Voss Veksel og Landmannsbank AS, and member of the board of Eiendomskreditt AS. Skeie is chair of the board of Kvam Energi AS, and holds directorships in other companies in the group. Skeie has been a member of the board of Sparebanken Norge since March 2016. Skeie is considered an independent board member.

Erik E. Tønnesen (born 1958)

Erik Tønnesen

Tønnesen holds an MSc in economics and business administration from BI Norwegian Business School. He is Managing Partner of Skagerak Capital as, and has previously been an executive vice president at Gjensidige, regional director at Acta Kapitalforvaltning and bank manager at Sparebanken Sør. Tønnesen has been a board member of Sparebanken Sør since March 2020 until May 2025. He is chair of the board of Lord 1 AS and its subsidiaries/associates and Innoventus Sør AS. Tønnesen is considered an independent board member.

Marianne Dorthea Jacobsen ( born 1980)

Marianne Jacobsen


Jacobsen is CEO of Knowit Experience Bergen AS, and has previously filled roles in the Knowit group, such as project manager and adviser in areas like strategy, digitalisation, branding and user experience. She has also been a customer adviser at Sparebanken Norge. Jacobsen holds directorships in Tide AS and Tide Buss AS, and in several of Knowit’s Nordic companies. Jacobsen has an MBA in Strategic Management from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), a master’s degree in Brand Management from Queensland University of Technology (Australia), as well as a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Leeds Metropolitan University (UK). She has also completed master’s studies in sustainable strategy at NHH. Jacobsen has been a member of the Board of Directors of Sparebanken Norge since March 2017. Jacobsen is considered an independent board member.

Mariann Vågnes Reite (born 1971)

Mariann Vågnes Reite

Vågnes Reite holds a master’s degree in economics and business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). She is a senior consultant at GAGN Consulting. Former CFO of Artec Aqua, Sølvtrans and PatoGen, and HR director and controller at Marine Harvest Norway. Member of the board of Nordic Halibut. Former member of the board of Global Aquaculture Technology Hub, Comrod Communication and Betania Alta. She also has experience of board work for subsidiaries of the companies where she held the role of CFO. Vågnes Reite has been a member of the Board of Direktor of Sparebanken Norge since March 2024. Vågnes Reite is considered an independent board member.

Hans Arthur Frigstad (born 1968)

Hans Arthur Frigstad

Frigstad has an MSc in economics and business administration from BI Norwegian Business School, specialising in entrepreneurship. He works as deputy chair in the Finance Sector Union of Norway for Sparebanken Norge. Frigstad has been CFO at Tandberg Television ASA, Loctite Norge AS and Normisjon, CEO at Bok & Media Mandal AS, chair of the board of KNIF, business advisor to Sparebanken Sør (from 2007). Frigstad has been an employee representative on the board of Sparebanken Sør since March 2024.

Kristin Axelsen (born 1966)

Board member

Axelsen holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from BI Norwegian Business School, and is an authorised financial adviser. Axelsen is a corporate adviser in the bank’s Direktebank and Digital Development for the CM division, and has worked for the bank since 2007. She has previously been an employee representative at the bank’s General Meeting, and deputy chair of the board of Ungt Entreprenørskap Hordaland. Axelsen has been an employee representative on the Board of Directors of Sparebanken Norge since April 2013.

Stig Standal Taule (born 1965)

Board member

Taule holds a bachelor’s degree in banking an finance from BI Norwegian Business School, and has also completed the master’s degree course ‘Brytningstid’ at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). He is a graduate of Kristiania University College, where he completed his education as a chief shop steward and senior shop steward. Taule is an authorised financial adviser and is currently the bank’s chief employee representative for the Finance Sector Union of Norway. Taule has worked for Vår Bank og Forsikring and Sparebanken Norge since 1984. He has been an employee representative on the Board of Directors of Sparebanken Norge since March 2022, before which he was deputy employee representative for five years.

Tina Maria Kvale (born 1981)

Tina Marie Kvale

Kvale currently works as a cash management advisor in the bank’s corporate market. She has been employed at Sparebanken Sør since 2019 and has a background in IT/technology. Kvale is employee representative in the Finance Sector Union of Norway for Sparebanken Norge, and has previously been deputy chair and employee representative of the same union for Sparebanken Sør. Kvale has been an employee representative on the board of Sparebanken Sør since March 2024.
